As the controversy over the Twitch gambling policy continues to brew, the streaming platform has decided to address the situation now before making a full update to its policy on October 18. Most importantly, it will be banning specific gambling sites while still allowing websites that “focus on sports betting, fantasy sports, and poker.”

Along with announcing this new policy, Twitch has also listed a number of sites that will be included in the ban next month, which are Stake, Rollbit, Duelbits, and Roobet. The company has also made it clear that the new policy won't effect just these sites and that more may be identified in the coming weeks. It also states that more information on the updated Guidelines will be published closer to the date.

That information comes after Twitch streamer ItsSliker recorded confession video on Saturday revealing that he had scammed his enthusiasts and different streamers to the track of $200,000 which he spent on skins in his Counter-Strike: International Offensive dependancy. The previous group member admits that he lied to different customers that his checking account was locked quicker than asking them for cash.

Even so, other popular Twitch streamers such as Pokimane, Asmongold, and HasanAbi have pressured the platform to ban gambling through the #TwitchStopGambling hashtag. Pokimane, DevinNash, and Mizkif have even proposed boycotting Twitch until the issue is addressed, which it has now done.

It now looks like Twitch has finally sat up and taken notice of the situation, but whether this updated policy will be enough to stop users from being scammed in the future remains to be seen.
