My Dudley Pond Debut
I was on vacation this past week and went fishing five days, and had two successful outings during the middle of the day, rather than my usually sunset time frame, so I decided to check out Dudley finally in mid-afternoon - it's only 6 miles from my house.
The first three hours were a bust - lots of hits on a Senko worm, but I suspect some of them were pesky sunfish or fingerling bass who were unlikely to get hooked.
Finally around 5:30 p.m. the dry spell ended when an audacious yellow perch hit my spin bait in the cove at the public beach. Two or three casts later a 13" largemouth hit the same bait.
Heading back down the pond toward the put-in, an 11" largemouth took a Zoom plastic lizard next to a fallen tree. At another sunken tree a bit further along, a 15" pickerel took the same bait.
So the last hour made up for the previous three dry ones. But it was a beautiful day to be on the water, and a nice sunset as I left set the mood for the short drive home.
